Three's a crowd
Raleigh camps out while Mortimer and Walter cuddle up in the cabin.
But ultimately he decided that he wanted to join in the hugs.
Nomin on the couch
Raleigh is rapidly becoming a solid little rat as he proves he can eat everything and faster than anyone else. Thereby giving him the chance to swoop in and pinch food from the others. Walter is a bit fussier and slower to eat so he remains a more slimline rat. Mortimer is happy to eat whatever and will sometimes let Raleigh pinch his food unless it's Senior Aid on shreddie (Mortimer gets Senior Aid every morning on something) in which case Raliegh won't be getting a look in.
Super Cute Hammock Hugs
Walter works as a handy blanket for Raleigh.
Triple hammock hugs - yes that is three rats in one hammock!

Playtime
Time for the weekly cage cleans so it was also a good time for everyone to come out and play. Even though Mortimer's living on his own until he's healed we're still socialising them together.
Ouch!
Well the good news is that Mortimer's lump wasn't a tumour...the bad news is that he's had a pretty bad reaction to his sutures and he swelled up a lot. He's much improved now but managed to open up his wound and so today he had a staple put in to close it. He squeaked a bit but didn't bite (he's so brave when he wants to be!).
Anyway, here's a picture of him getting a hug :)

Recuperation
Mortimer's operation today was successful and he was back at home before 5pm. We've put him on his own in the old cage with a wooden hut for him to hide in and a comfy bed for him to relax on instead of a hammock. He's obviously in a lot of discomfort but he is eating which is good news.
He seems to really like the bed :)

Please Think Positive Thoughts
Mortimer is going to the vets tomorrow. We found a couple of lumps on his side (not attached to bone like Wheelers) and the vet is going to remove them. Odds are on they are cancer and it'll only buy him a few weeks but he's in good health and spirits and we hope it'll give him a better quality of life for the time he has. Anyway fingers crossed for 'the big fat squishy' we're all hoping the op goes well tomorrow!
Morning nomming - with Mortimer getting Senior Aid in the morning we've taken to giving all the boys a breakfast snack so he can finish his Senior Aid before he gets it pinched.
