Mortimer Update

So Mortimer went to the vest yesterday and got the all clear. His wound is healing really well and he and the boys are back together. All was looking good until Tom noticed a lump tonight. It feels like the vet didn't get the smaller of the two lumps when he went in or it could be a new lump. Either way we are opting to keep an eye rather than another stress filled trip to the vets - Mortimer doesn't seem to be aware of this new development and instead was playing with the younger pair happily - chasing after them on the couch and everything (not that you can tell that from this super cute sleepy shot).

Tubigrip + Rat = Grumpy Sausage

This was the first attempt - we went and bought the next size up. It turns out Mortimer is a large wrist size of tube grip.

Playtime

Time for the weekly cage cleans so it was also a good time for everyone to come out and play. Even though Mortimer's living on his own until he's healed we're still socialising them together.

Ouch!

Well the good news is that Mortimer's lump wasn't a tumour...the bad news is that he's had a pretty bad reaction to his sutures and he swelled up a lot. He's much improved now but managed to open up his wound and so today he had a staple put in to close it. He squeaked a bit but didn't bite (he's so brave when he wants to be!).

Anyway, here's a picture of him getting a hug :)

Recuperation

Mortimer's operation today was successful and he was back at home before 5pm. We've put him on his own in the old cage with a wooden hut for him to hide in and a comfy bed for him to relax on instead of a hammock. He's obviously in a lot of discomfort but he is eating which is good news.

He seems to really like the bed :)

Lets all cram in the hammock again!

Woke up this morning to find this scene :D
